Does Everyone Benefit from Mobile Technology?

The following is a statement by Apple co-founder, Steve Wozniak:

“When we started Apple, Steve Jobs and I talked about how we wanted to make blind people as equal and capable as sighted people, and you’d have to say we succeeded when you look at all the people walking down the sidewalk looking down at something in their hands and totally oblivious to everything around them!”

We still fail to realize that the explosion of electronics and technological innovations has not expanded human sensation, but has limited it. We have shrunk the world into a small screen that fits in the palm of the hand. A person looks into it, and for him nothing else exists. He thinks he is connected to the world, but in truth, he is connected to intermediaries—offices, systems, and corporations—that feed him whatever they decide. So instead of becoming freer, the human being has become more dependent. We are becoming greater and greater slaves.

And there is something even more serious here. With the rise of electronics, many normal professions disappear. But a profession is not only a way to earn money. The most important part of a profession is that through it a person feels himself needed in society, suitable for coexistence with others. A profession is a form of communication between people. I am a tailor, you are a shoemaker, a doctor, a lawyer—whatever it is, we need each other. We exchange services, interact and live through one another.

However, if people no longer need one another, if they only stare into phones, then it becomes like a drug. People will simply fall asleep inside. Movies will spin in their heads, and they will become removed from real life altogether.

Such innovations are gradually leading us to a state called “the recognition of evil.” It means that we will become forced to recognize that our egoistic development, where we each seek to benefit ourselves at the expense of others and nature, leads us into a dead end. We will have no choice but to admit that such a path brings emptiness, dependence, and separation, and that we must break out of it, escape it in a leap, headlong, anywhere away from it.

We will likely advance further and further in technology precisely in order to discover that it leads nowhere. It is not because technology itself is evil, but because external development without internal development only reveals emptiness. External progress is unnecessary. What is necessary is inner progress.

If we do not develop internally—toward connection, mutual responsibility, and the purpose of life—then technological progress will simply bring us back to the beginning, to the questions, “Why are we alive? What are we living for?”

Why Do So Many People Question the Purpose of Life?

Today we have reached a state where millions of people around the world are already beginning to ask about life’s most fundamental questions: Why are we suffering? Why are we here? What is the purpose of life? Does nature have a plan for us? These questions appear when humanity ripens inwardly to the point where it can no longer be satisfied with ordinary existence, and it begins to demand the meaning of life.

This is why the wisdom of Kabbalah is being revealed specifically now. It is the method that provides answers to these questions. How does it provide these answers? It does so in an empiric and practical manner by revealing a different reality to us.

Kabbalah is a method of revealing the upper reality beyond what we currently feel. This upper reality already exists around us and even within us, but we are separated from it by an inner, psychological barrier. It blocks our perception of the second half of reality, where we live in our true form of existence.

When we cross this barrier, it is as though a light suddenly turns on. It is no ordinary light, but the upper light. Within this upper light, we begin to see another reality that had previously been dark, hidden, and imperceptible, i.e., the reality of the upper world.

Then, we begin to understand what is happening in our lives from a whole new height and depth, why it is happening, and how our nature and the nature around us operates. We discover that we are not merely physical bodies, not the animate part that simply lives for survival, comfort, and temporary pleasure. We are souls, the inner human being who is eternal and perfect.

Then it becomes clear that we are eternal and perfect creations living in a higher form of existence. Our purpose is to rise into the upper, spiritual world, to live beyond the limitations of time, space, and motion, and outside the narrow boundaries of our present perception.

What about this corporeal world? It will still exist for a certain period of time. It remains as the stage that we develop on until we attain the upper reality. However, as we rise from one degree to the next, the lower reality increasingly fades away. It becomes less and less discernible, until eventually it disappears completely because our perception becomes fully spiritual and no longer needs the external picture.

Kabbalists say that we must reach this state here and now, in this life, while living in this world. Moreover, nothing needs to change externally. The only change is an inner one, that we rise above the inner psychological barrier residing within each of us, and discover the upper world. We will then begin to live in a completely different reality, one of absolute harmony, peace, and happiness.

Must Social and Mass Media Die in Order for Our Humanity to Survive?

Social and mass media needs to change its direction. It should happen through a unified decision, through the agreement of the majority of countries, that from now on, everything in the media, whether it be news, culture, entertainment, education, or public discussion, will be aimed at one central explanation to humanity: only our unity can save the world and restore nature’s positive influence upon us.

Social and mass media is a system that forms us. Therefore, it is the fastest tool humanity has for changing the direction of global development. If it is redirected correctly, i.e., with diligent care that it will indeed benefit humanity, it can quickly influence people’s values, priorities, and relationships, and thus reverse the destructive course we are on.

Then, we would immediately see positive effects in every aspect of our lives. This is because the entire system of nature responds to the human level. Health would improve. Terror would subside. Weather conditions would stabilize. Society would calm down. Relationships between children and parents would soften. Problems with the younger generation would begin to dissolve. Everything would start balancing out and becoming peaceful.

Why? It is because the enormous human egoism, i.e., the overblown desire to enjoy at others’ expense that dwells within people, would begin to weaken. It would not turn us into angels, but on the contrary, everyone would gain awareness of the system they live in, become imbued with it, and feel that there is a higher way to exist. They would feel that life is not just survival, fear, or the pursuit of various comforts, but that there is a path to rise above all limitations, even that of death.

We need to show this to humanity, that we have the opportunity to rise above death, and to attain eternity and perfection. It is a change in our sensation, relationships, and perception of reality. Along with that, life on earth itself will become calmer, safer, and indeed heavenly, unlike the current state where people leave their homes not knowing if they will return, or if tomorrow they will even have air to breathe.

What Is the Greatest Tragedy of Mankind?

All the negativity that humanity has experienced throughout history, among all peoples and in all times, was nothing but suffering that came from our increasing detachment from each other. We failed to understand that nature’s law is the opposite: that we need to draw closer together, unite, and learn how to connect harmoniously. Today, this accumulated suffering is beginning to reveal itself openly, pressing on us from every direction, and it is not doing so in order to destroy us, but to urge our connection.

When we finally begin to move in the right direction, we will even become grateful for all the suffering, because we will understand its purpose. We will see that it was not meaningless pain, but a force that guided us toward the correction of our nature: from its inborn egoistic state of being a desire to enjoy for self-benefit alone, to an altruistic one, in harmony with the altruistic force of nature. Then we will discover that there is only one overall direction to our development, a motion toward a great and lasting happiness that comes from reaching balance with the altruistic force of nature.

This is already happening. Without exception, everything that is unfolding today is part of that motion. It might appear dark, chaotic, and cruel, but its inner direction is solely to guide us to a harmonious connection among one another, and through that connection, to achieve the most genuine form of happiness, one of eternity and perfection.

We are standing at a major turning point.

When the world feels tense and events begin unfolding in disturbing ways, it usually means that something much bigger is taking shape, even if we can’t yet see where it’s going.

Our job right now is not to let global changes push us into panic or fear.

Our job is to align ourselves with Hashem.

That means staying gracious and calm.

It means trusting Hashem more, rather than trying to control what we cannot control.

Times of upheaval test where we’re really holding.

Do we get centered and connect with Hashem?

Do we go inward and align with our neshamah, our core, and our truth?

Do we stay connected to emunah, clarity, and self-control?

People who align themselves with Hashem during uncertain times become stronger, calmer, clearer, and more grounded—and that steadiness helps strengthen everyone around them.

We need only to remember Who is running the world and choose to live accordingly.

And later on, when we look back, it will be obvious:

This was a turning point.

True and lasting growth isn’t built in sudden leaps, but in small steps taken again and again. You don’t need to see the entire path to begin; every step forward – regardless of how small – matters. When the journey feels overwhelming, shrink the distance – narrow your focus to the step right in front of you. One breath. One choice. One moment of courage.

At first, the movement may seem too small to matter. Yet tiny actions build momentum, and slow steps still reach far places. Progress you cannot yet see is still progress, and each step forward – even when taken in uncertainty – strengthens your resolve. The results may feel hidden, but every effort creates roots that shape lasting change.

There are seasons when your footsteps echo into silence – when clarity is distant and no response comes back. In those moments, remember that small steps still move mountains – all those little efforts leave an enormous impact. Every choice to continue – especially when taken in difficulty – is planting seeds that time will one day reveal. You may not see the difference today or feel stronger tomorrow, but consistent effort will always lead to visible transformation.

You are not meant to sprint through life, but to walk it. Never let what you can’t do stop you from what you can do. Even when it feels insignificant, know that each step forward is its own victory. One step, repeated with trust, becomes a journey, and that journey leads to transformation. So keep going, and keep growing, knowing that every effort and every step – no matter how slow – is carrying you exactly where you need to be.

If you feel spiritually heavy, pause and check the weight you’re carrying.

Sadness blocks movement.

Joy allows strength to emerge.

Sadness doesn’t just feel unpleasant,

it makes the soul feel heavy,

and when the soul feels heavy,

its strength can’t come out.

But real life brings real pain:

Health. Livelihood. Family. Delays. Disappointment. Spiritual struggle.

So the question is simple:

How do we stay joyful when life hurts?

Today, Tanya gives a radical shift.

Not “stay positive.”

A deeper way of reading reality.

February 08

Why, Hashem, why?!

Oh… that’s why.

When we’re in the middle of hardship, it can feel dark, endless, and hopeless.

The pain fills our vision.

The uncertainty makes it feel like there’s no way out, as if this stage will last forever.

But once we move through it, which we always do with Hashem’s help, everything becomes clear.

The “Why?!” suddenly makes sense.

We see how every piece mattered.

How each step was necessary.

How what once felt unbearable actually pushed us to grow, to learn, and to deepen our Bitachon and our connection to Hashem and our neshama.

Only then do we realize that this difficult chapter helped shape the most refined version of who we are meant to become.

But don’t wait until the ending to trust.

Yes, after the darkness passes, we will look back with gratitude and understanding.

But the real work is done while things are still unclear.

The key is to keep turning to Hashem now.

To strengthen our Bitachon now.

To move forward with calm, inner strength, and even joy, rooted in the knowledge that Hashem is with us every step of the way.

He is guiding the process.

He always has been.

In the end, everything will work out.

The only regret is wasting energy on unnecessary worry.

The Lubavitcher Rebbe once urged a chossid who was stuck in worry and pessimism to redirect his thoughts toward Bitachon. When the man continued to worry, the Rebbe said:

“The day will come when everything works out. And then you’ll look back and regret how much time, energy, and pain you put yourself through by choosing to worry.”

Let that day come without regret.
