Authenticity is the highest vibration, even above love, so it would make sense that true love is the acceptance of others for who they truly are. As a society as a whole I think the majority of people don’t apply this concept very well. Do we let our children forge their own path, even if it means they don’t do their homework and fail a clas? Do we show compassion for someone who has killed one of our family members? Do democrats learn to line republicans and vice versa? Most people don’t. I think Merton has it right, but I think that even if a lot of people agree, they don’t always put it into practice. It’s easy to show love when it’s something we agree with or to someone with similar beliefs. It’s much more difficult to put into practice when it come to something incongruent to our own personal ideals. Though I think it’s something we should all try to achieve. I try really hard to bring the concept of “oneness” to my mind when I see differences in my fellow man or injustice in the world and that helps me show true unconditional love easier. I also try to remind myself for example…that an abuser in is lifetime may be a victim in the next and that helps me alot in my ability to shift my perspective and get to a place of love. 💜💟🤍
