There is more than one way a new life enters the world.

A child is born from a womb.

A chick hatches from an egg.

A butterfly emerges from a chrysalis.

The Phoenix rises from the fire.

All four are images of transformation. But they are not the same process.

They are four different laws of emergence, representing both the evolutionary stages of humanity's awakening and four different thresholds in our own lives.

Each one asks something different of us.

And we lose our way when we mistake one law for another - like trying to hatch what needs a womb, or treating the Phoenix fire as an end, rather than a new beginning so profound that the past no longer holds sway.

What looks like failure may be a law of emergence you have not yet recognized.

We are not just one thing.

We are worlds full of worlds.

In these times of profound awakening, humanity is living all four processes at once. And each of us, as an imaginal cell in that larger awakening, is moving through them in our own personal life too.

Some things are being born through immense compression.
Capacities that have never existed before are gestating in us right now, even though they are not ready to live on their own. That is not failure. That is the womb.

Some things are cracking.
Structures, certainties, and collective agreements that held us for many generations have completed their work, and the emergent life that has become too big for them is beginning to press against the shell. That is not collapse. That is the egg.

Some things are being deeply reorganized for a vastly different future stage. For many of us, our old identities, relationships, and ways of moving through the world are dissolving and seeking to reform around a blueprint we cannot yet fully see. That is not breakdown. It is the meltdown that precedes a higher, more powerful form. That is the chrysalis.

And some things are burning down completely - because there is not enough life force left in them to carry them to the next stage. That does not mean that life itself is ending. It means the dimension from which that life is generated must become completely new.

The Phoenix reveals our deepest original design.
It burns - and still survives - because death holds no power over its innermost core.

For the Phoenix to continue to live into the next phase of its journey, its old structure must burn to ashes until only the irreducible living core remains.

The Hebrew word for ash, efer, is made of the same three letters that spell pe'er - beauty, glory - pointing toward the beauty and aliveness of a fully embodied soul.

Redemption at its deepest level does not merely reorganize the parts of us that feel overburdened and weary. It renews them from our living core.

So the question is:
How do we begin to use these four laws of emergence to make the next levels of our transformation real?

See whether you recognize yourself in one or more of these thresholds:

The womb. Something new is trying to come alive in you or through you, but it is not yet developed enough to live on its own. That does not mean it is not meant to come alive. It is still gestating. Gestation is not stagnation. It is the process of growing a complex system and protecting what is developing until it is ready to be born.

The egg. You are living in a structure or situation, internal or external, that does not fit you anymore. You may feel trapped but not know why, or what to do. Sometimes that is not something that needs to be fixed. Sometimes you need to allow the pressure to build until the cracks appear.

The chrysalis. You are realizing that a way of being that carried you successfully through your life cannot carry you anymore. Your old ways may still be getting results for you or for others. But what once worked - even fed your soul - is now costing too much. It is no longer joyful or sustainable. The ways of being you once relied upon may have stopped working before the new ones have clearly emerged. But beneath the apparent breakdown, your life is reorganizing itself around a different blueprint. You need to learn how to align with that flow.

The fire. The thing you keep trying to repair has actually reached its end. Its role in your life is over and cannot be revived. Often, this is a pattern so core to your life that it is impossible to imagine what else could even be. Trying harder will not bring your old world back to life. The only thing left to do with it is allow it to burn. Your soul fire must be allowed to blaze bright enough and long enough to reveal your deepest inner core, deeper and more real than the life you've lived. From that core, entirely new structures, vessels, pathways, and connections can form – even if you cannot yet fully imagine what these might be.

We suffer when we misread or misalign with what is trying to be born - when we interpret it as failure, or as evidence that something about us is irredeemably wrong.

Maybe you feel pressured to expose what still needs time to develop.

Maybe you keep trying to patch together a shell that is already cracking.

Maybe you are interpreting the meltdown of metamorphosis as danger or failure, and trying to get the caterpillar to go back to crawling the way it did before.

Or maybe you keep negotiating with an exile matrix whose very laws and principles are not supporting life, or the awakening of souls.

Or maybe you are feeling them all.

But the Phoenix tells us something no other metaphor can.

That the life you were born to embody was never meant to be eternally constrained by the vessels of this ailing world.

Those vessels are real – as far as they go.
Beyond them is a far bigger world, with far greater vessels, waiting to be accessed now.

In the Torah, the Phoenix is called the Chol. The Chol was the only creature in the Garden of Eden who refused to eat the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge. For this reason, it was the only creature exempt from death.

But, though it is not subject to the exile matrix that brought death into the world, the world it lives in is. Even for an immortal being, life in exile accumulates a residue of weariness, friction, and burden over time that wears down the life force available to it within that form.

The Phoenix fire burns that residue away, revealing the essence beneath it that cannot die and renewing its power to live through its next form.  And from there, the Phoenix grows a new structure that carries its wisdom, experience, and true being forward into the next phase.

The vessels of your life can reach the limit of what they were built to carry. But beneath those vessels lie deeper levels of life that have not been revealed before. That life, though not yet visible, belongs to you. And once you own it, new vessels begin to be formed.

You are not here to create the impossible. The impossible is already here.

But new vessels are needed for it to reveal itself within this physical world.

Your Soul Fire burns not to destroy, but to reveal the part of you that is most truly alive.

When a major role ends, a major structure fails, a deep dream dies, or the world you believed in can no longer be restored, the question must no longer be, "How do I get my old life back?"

The question that matters is: Am I willing to discover the deep core of life in me that none of what I have lived through has ever destroyed - or fully revealed?

I am not teaching these things from outside the fire. I am in it every day—moving through my own Refit, reorganizing my life around a source of life force that can no longer be defined by exile.

The vessels for a new level of life develop as we do.

A prayer for the protection of life!

May those who have forgotten the value of life remember it.

May truth reach every place where deception is rewarded.

May those capable of remorse awaken before they cause further harm.

May those who refuse conscience be restrained, exposed, and removed from positions of power.

May the innocent be protected.

May fear lose its authority.

May greed lose its disguise.

May no person, institution, or technology be permitted to sacrifice life for control or profit.

And may I keep my heart open without surrendering my judgment, my boundaries, or my strength.

So be it.

Why Was the Torah Given?

“There was a precondition from the beginning of the reception of the Torah, but afterward, since the time of the making of the calf, the package has been taken apart.” – Kabbalist Yehuda Ashlag (Baal HaSulam), Letter 60.

What was the condition for receiving the Torah? Why was the Torah given? The Torah was given only for one purpose: to reach connection between us at the level of “love your neighbor as yourself.” Within that love between people, we then reveal “love the Lord your God,” i.e., complete adhesion.

This was the condition, and it was clear to everyone. The difficulty, however, is that we must uphold this condition each time above the growing problems between us, i.e., the increasing will to receive that demands we strengthen our connection more and more. At every moment, the broken will to receive becomes revealed more strongly, and we must maintain connection, love, and mutual work, prayer, and support above it. And we failed in doing so.

Already in the First Temple, problems appeared in maintaining connection at the level of “love your neighbor as yourself.” As it is written, the “package” that had been established at the level of Bina (a spiritual level of bestowal), upon entering the level of the Land of Israel, i.e., when we began to truly engage in love, this package began to break apart. From then on, we have been in decline.

The Kabbalists say that this process is necessary, that we had to go through it. The construction of the First Temple, its ruin, the construction of the Second Temple, and its inevitable ruin as well, despite all this, we were still required to maintain connection, to uphold “love your neighbor as yourself,” as Rabbi Akiva demanded of his students. Yet even his students, the finest of that generation, were unable to sustain it, and hatred become revealed among them.

Today, we are in a completely different stage. After the ruin of the First and Second Temples, and after the exiles, we now stand before the construction of the Third Temple, which will undoubtedly be built. The only question is to what extent we can contribute through our own effort and support. To what extent we can assist this process through a correct and willing inclination to connect and to reach a state of mutual love, i.e., “from love of others to love of the Creator.” Otherwise, suffering can also bring us to that same harmonious and peaceful state, but by a much longer path.

Do We Meet People by Coincidence, or Is There a Reason Behind Every Encounter?

Nothing happens by chance. All of our encounters are predetermined.

All of us are interconnected and interdependent from the outset, with each of us already being in a designated state. If we need to encounter each other in some way in life as an outcome of the common soul’s correction, then it has already been predetermined according to our spiritual genes.

Therefore, nothing accidental happens in our meetings or distance from each other, so we need not worry about that. What we should mainly concern ourselves with is that at every stage of our development, when we encounter others, we should be as kind, welcoming, and engaging as possible. Then, ultimately, we will not go astray and will always remain in the direction of correcting our soul.

How Can We Attain the Upper World?

First, what is the upper world? The upper world is not a distant place somewhere beyond the stars. It is a state of perception, that of correct self-assessment. It is attained via thorough inner examination in which we evaluate our feelings, thoughts, intentions, and actions from the perspective of truth instead of the distortions of personal egoism, i.e., the desire to enjoy for self-benefit at the expense of others.

When people think about spirituality, they often ask whether life continues after death. However, a more fundamental question is not whether the body dies or survives, but whether we can part with our egoism.

As long as we perceive reality through egoistic desires, we see only a limited picture of existence. Everything is measured according to personal benefit, loss, pleasure, or suffering. This narrow perspective defines what we call “this world” in Kabbalah.

However, when we rise above egoism, an whole new perception emerges. We no longer perceive reality through a filter of self-interest Instead, we begin to see existence as it truly is. This perception is called “the upper world,” or “the next world.”

Importantly, this upper world has nothing to do with a place we go to after the death of the physical body. We can attain the upper world while still living in this world and inhabiting the same physical body. There is no obstacle preventing such an attainment.

The challenge lies not in reaching the upper world but in becoming prepared for it.

To perceive reality beyond egoism requires a special inner state. We need to develop a correct attitude to our desires, intentions, and inner forces. Without such preparation, we would have an overwhelming experience. Instead of using revelation correctly, we would immediately translate it into egoistic gain, and turn it into another source of personal pleasure.

For such a reason, spiritual attainment is not given before we are ready for it.

The wisdom of Kabbalah explains that before we can perceive the upper world, the higher reality, we must acquire what is called a “screen,” which is an inner force that enables us to resist egoistic reception. The screen lets us relate to spiritual revelation correctly, without exploiting it for selfish benefit. Only when this inner readiness exists can we reveal deeper states safely.

The process for such attainment resembles that of preparing a vessel before filling it. The greater the light that is to be received, the greater the preparation that is required.

Spiritual states that await us are states of immense fulfillment, love, understanding, and harmony, far beyond anything ordinarily experienced in our corporeal lives. However, such states can only be appreciated and sustained when we develop corresponding inner qualities.

Therefore, spiritual development is not about escaping the world or waiting for a future existence. It is about transforming our perception while living here and now. The upper world becomes accessible when we gradually free ourselves from the limits of egoistic perception and learn to view reality through a broader and truthful lens.

Moreover, every person has the potential to attain this. The opportunity is open to all. The only requirement is the desire to prepare oneself for it. If we genuinely wish to rise above egoism and discover reality as it truly is, the path is available.

The upper world is hidden from us only as much as we need to attain a different way of perceiving. When we acquire that new perception, we discover that the higher reality was present all along.
