Commit to the Work of Shalom

The work of peacemaking, reconciliation, mutual recognition, and justice is not something accomplished in a single moment. In Judaism, shalom is not merely the absence of conflict—it is a state of wholeness, harmony, and right relationship.

The Torah teaches, “Seek peace and pursue it” (Psalm 34:15). The sages understood that peace requires active effort. We do not simply wait for peace to appear; we pursue it, even when the path is difficult.

From a Kabbalistic perspective, the world is deeply interconnected. Every person is part of a greater spiritual system, and what happens between human beings affects the harmony of that system. When hatred, resentment, judgment, or separation enter our relationships, we contribute to fragmentation. When we cultivate compassion, understanding, forgiveness, and mutual responsibility, we participate in tikkun—the work of repair and restoration.

This requires patience. It requires the humility to listen before judging, to question our assumptions, and to recognize that another person may be seeing a part of reality that we have not yet understood.

Peace does not mean pretending that differences do not exist. Judaism does not ask us to abandon truth or justice for the sake of superficial harmony. Rather, it challenges us to discover whether truth and compassion can meet, and whether justice can be pursued without hatred.

The Kabbalistic path is ultimately a movement from separation toward connection—from seeing ourselves as isolated individuals to recognizing the divine purpose that binds creation together.

Our commitment, therefore, is not simply to believe in peace, but to become instruments of peace.

To listen more deeply.
To judge less quickly.
To replace hatred with understanding.
To seek justice without losing compassion.
To recognize the dignity of the other.
And wherever there is division, to ask:

What can I do to bring another small measure of shalom into the world?

This is part of our work of tikkun—repairing not only the world around us, but also the divisions within ourselves.

Your Friday PSA:

⚠️ BE ON HIGH ALERT⚠️

Shalom attracts ALL blessings!

It’s Friday, so be extra mindful of the following:

💍 According to Chazal, Friday afternoon is an especially important time to be vigilant about Shalom Bayis.

❓Why?

🏡 Because the EXTRA light and blessings that a couple has the power to draw down into their home by being in harmony and closeness as shabbos enters is soo GREAT that the Satan feels threatened by it, and goes all out to destroy their Shalom Bayis especially on Fridays.

🚨 The Satan does not want the couple to receive the great additional blessings that they will attract by drawing the Schechinah into their home through their Harmony. Especially Erev Shabbos and Shabbos!

🪤 He invests every effort and trick in his arsenal to trap the couple!

🏆 The good news is: Hashem gave us the power to outsmart the Satan’s agenda!

🧗🏻‍♂️ Yes! We have the power to not only avoid his tricks but actually go to the opposite extreme! 😀👌

🗒️ Here are some practicable ideas: 🗒️

❤️ “Sweetheart, how can I help out?”

❤️ “Can I take the kids out to the park?”

❤️ “Do you need anything from the store?”

❤️ “Can I cover for you, while you take a break to rest your feet?”😅

❤️ “You work so hard and tirelessly for our family. [Insert specific examples here] I appreciate you so much!” 🥲🥰

Chaim Clorfene’s The World of the Ger explores the vital spiritual and historical role of the "Ger", or stranger, within the Jewish tradition. The book argues that these individuals are not merely outsiders but are essential components of Jewish identity and communal growth. By examining the Noahide Laws as a universal ethical framework, Clorfene advocates for a more inclusive understanding of those who align themselves with the God of Israel without full conversion. The sources highlight how historical figures like King David and Jethro embody this unique status, bridging the gap between Jewish and Gentile worlds. Ultimately, the work calls for linguistic sensitivity and ethical dignity in welcoming those on a spiritual journey toward the Torah. This scholarly analysis situates the Ger as a mystical partner in the collective redemption and spiritual tapestry of humanity.
